  • Q1: What are the advantages of our Dual-major Program at CMU?

    A:
    • Students get much more opportunities of access to medical school in China than in the U.S. because of abundant medical teaching resources in China. After you join the program, Beth Healthcare will walk with you in next 5 years to provide the personal assistance through the entire process until you get matched for Residency in the U.S.
    • Students will study at one of the top 10 medical universities in China that is listed with IMED so students completing study at CMU are eligible for taking USMLE and apply for the Residency match." before "For more details.
    • Students spend much less money in medical education because of the lower tuition and living costs.
    • Students will learn medical science, clinical pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese language as well.

      A. The one-year clinical training at NYMC is very crucial for foreign educated medical graduates (FMGs) because over two thirds of U.S. teaching hospitals and residency program require the applicants to have the "prior U.S. clinical experience" to be invited for the interview during the application process.

      B. NYMC will conduct the one-year clinical training on the advanced level in subspecialties at its one or more affiliated hospitals, or even any other teaching hospital cross the country where students want to pursue their Residency, thereby students can have the opportunity to get familiarized with the hospital and form the relationship with attending physicians before they apply for the Residency match.

      C. Students can apply for the Residency match during the 5th year when they take the clinical training at NYMC and start their Residency in July, if they get matched after they complete the clinical training in May of the same year without waiting for another year since the Match only takes place once a year.
    • Students will have clinical training in the affiliated teaching hospitals of CMU with about 6,500 beds.
    • Students will attend the hospital rotations in the U.S. in their last year of medical school.
    • Students will obtain dean's letters issued from both China and U.S. medical colleges.

  • Q5: How do I pay tuition?

    A: You can pay your tuition to Beth Healthcare, LLC:
    • Pay your tuition to Beth Healthcare, LLC (Beth) and Beth will transfer the tuition to CMU. This way you won't be charged with international transfer fees.
    • Wire-transferring your first-year tuition to CMU, you will be charged with international transfer fees (after wire-transferring the tuition, you MUST provide remittance slip to Beth for informing CMU).

  • Q7: Application and registration process

    A:
    • Download and fill out the application form online on our download page. Sign and return it to Beth Healthcare, LLC with all the documents required and non-refundable application fee (money order, cashier's check or personal check accepted, payable to Beth Healthcare, LLC).
    • Receive Interview Invitation
    • Receive Admission Confirmation if accepted
    • Download and fill out "CMU Application Form for Foreign Students Intending to Study in China at their Own Expenses" form at http://www.cmu.edu.cn/cmu/upl_files/264/200665155840482.doc Return it with a copy of your passport (including photo page, signature page, and pages with the last record of entry/exit), evidence of the source of financial support, non-refundable JW202 application fee $150 and enrollment reservation fee $5,000 (money order, cashier's check, or personal check accepted, payable to Beth Healthcare, LLC)
    • Receive JW202 form and Admission Notice issued by CMU.
    • Apply for Chinese visa. For more information, please visit http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/default.htm or another Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China which holds your area of residence.
    • Go to China and register at CMU
    • Beth and CMU will help you go through the process of the physical examination and the application for the Residence Permit for Foreigners..

  • Q8: Where will I live during the period of study at CMU?

    A: Students will live in apartments near campus arranged by CMU in 2010 and 2011, then move to the new student dorms on the new campus.

  • Q9: How can I go to CMU when I arrive in Shenyang?

    A: Beth will arrange students to depart in groups. Students leaving for Shenyang individually, who need to be met at Shenyang airport by CMU, must inform CMU the exact date and airline flight number at least one week ahead.

  • Q10: Do I need to purchase medical insurance in China?

    A: Yes. Foreign students studying at CMU are required to purchase medical insurance which is RMB600 per year (approximately $100 per year). CMU will arrange for purchasing after students register at CMU.
